In addition to performing modern aesthetic cosmetic procedures, we specialize in skin cancer diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction. Although skin cancer can appear most anywhere on the body, it is most commonly found on areas that usually receive the greatest sun exposure, such as the face, neck, arms, and hands. Our practice is well known across Central New York, including Watertown, Utica, and Syracuse, for superior skin cancer patient care.

To learn more about skin cancer treatment and reconstruction, request a consultation online to meet with Dr. Gregory Baum or Dr. Anthony Deboni – both board-certified plastic surgeons. You can also call our office in Fayetteville, New York at (315) 329-6462 .

Syracuse Skin Cancer Diagnosis

There are several types of skin cancer, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma, all of which usually require a trained eye to detect and diagnose. At CNY Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery we have extensive training and experience in diagnosing skin cancer. If you have a spot that has changed color, grown larger, become irregular in shape, or begun to bleed, you should call today for a consultation. The sooner you catch skin cancer, the better the prognosis.

Treatment Options

Skin cancer can be treated in a variety of ways. When you visit us for your consultation, we will thoroughly explain the treatments that are appropriate for your specific stage and type of skin cancer, which can include:

  • Surgical removal
  • Radiation therapy
  • Topical chemotherapy

Reconstruction

Often the treated areas are scarred and deformed after skin cancer treatment. We offer advanced skin cancer reconstructive surgery techniques to restore and repair the appearance of the affected areas. Much like techniques used in breast reconstruction, we can perform flap surgery to transplant a flap of living skin and tissue from another area of the body to repair the treated area. Sometimes we need to do a skin graft from one area of the body to another.

Because we are also aesthetic specialists, many patients choose to combine their reconstructive surgery for the skin cancer with a cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift or brow lift.
